Horsing Around

from Notes on Machines

Less than a week from the first day of summer I can see my breath outside.

Our apartment is in the grips of Seabiscuit fever. We went up to Saratoga Springs this weekend, a getaway to celebrate our 5th anniversary. Every morning at 5, trainers take the thoroughbreds out to the track to run them, and we stumbled over at 7:30 to see them go. The horses are amazing, unruly machines, unfit for anything but racing, from the looks of it: at anything less than a full gallop, they'd start pulling sideways, like dogs trying to snatch their leashes from their owners' hands.

But when they run....

Ftrain re-vamp
Paul Ford's already inimitable site, Ftrain.com, is now even less imitable, sitekit notwithstanding. Graph Narratives? Web Pidgin? A site designed to work better in Mozilla and Safari than in IE? Dreamy and strange.
