Party, Birthday

from Notes on New York

The slow, slow relaunch of this site continues apace. If you're in the Bay Area this weekend, or anytime in April, head to balmy for a show of Jane's paintings.

the invitation

Rumor has it if you make it for the opening this weekend, you'll also see one of Alyssa's dresses.

Jane and Vicki threw a birthday party for Jennifer's 30th birthday last night. They'd laid out an endless spread of delicious food, opened a dozen bottles of good wine, decorated the apartment with votives. We hadn't been there an hour when I set my shirt on fire.

An ancestor of mine, married to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, died when her dress caught fire. But me? I didn't even think: I stopped, dropped, and rolled, just as I'd learned to do in 1st grade. I didn't even feel self-conscious about wriggling around on Jane's floor like a stuck lizard.

We're off for a celebratory tour of southern Louisiana and east Texas, our idea of a good time.

Jane's Photos of Jen's Party
Jane took photos at Jen's party, since I was too busy catching on fire, etc, to do so myself.
